Flower Power

Flower has been part of our culture between lovers and friends. The meaning of it has also flowed with time but starting to disappear. Each flower has its own stories and meaning behind them. Imagine receiving a flower from your love one and how special  it would be to know the message it carries...
So Polka's pick of the 'Flower of the Day' would be Forget-Me-Not.

FORGET-ME-NOT: True love, hope, remembrance, memories.

It was supposed, that the wearer of forget-me-not will not be forgotten by their lover. It is said in a German legend that the name of the flower came from when God was naming all of the plants. He happens to miss out one little blue cluster, which then the flowers cried "Forget me not, O Lord!" and that's how they got their name. Another less religious story would be the story of when a soldier and his lover was walking by the river side. He picked a posy of flowers, but then fell into the river. As he was drowning he threw the flower to his loved one and shouted "Forget-me-not!". It was often worn by ladies as a sign of faithfulness and enduring love. And thus we present you 'Forget-me-not'.

Lovely Video

This is a lovely video we love. The music is done by a Brooklyn based electro indie pop group made up of three lovely girls, Erika, Annie and Heather; Au Revoir Simone. Their music is just so lovely and addictive, you'll want to keep listening. POLKA Spring Debut Collection 2011

Dear Diary,

     We have just finished our catalog pictures! Pictures were taken by the fabulous Fadli Rahman and his team. And Courtney is the beautiful model in this collection. We are inspired after watching Sofia Coppola's version of  Marie Antoinette. Note that it is a must watch for all Polka Girl out there. The Macaroon color of pastel pink, violet and green during the tea party scene is definitely a definition of Spring for any Polka Girl. We hope to bring in the soft and sweet look for the spring breeze this current collection ^.^

I just did a short video on Polka Spring debut collection. It was during the photo shoot the other time. It is very simple as I did it using Windows Movie Maker, but do give me some credit as you know Polka Girl loves vintage and not so much on technology...
